The Inhabitants
We are inhabitants of places and spaces, of our bodies, and of time. The subtlety of our experiences manifests itself in our inner and outer selves. It is written on our faces and hands, reflected in our clothes and language. These outward signs are quotients. They are remainders of life’s constant buffeting left behind, imprinted on us, and open for interpretation. These paintings are attempts to put form to these accumulations of felt living. Finding that particular brand of “me, myself, and I” that is unique to each one of us.

Early Tea
My mother introduced me to the culture of drinking tea while I was still a very young boy. A fond memory was having tea in the morning before school; I called this little tradition of mine “early tea.” All this led to my love and appreciation of teacups and teapots—their different styles, shapes, and designs. It’s now a rewarding adventure for me to find these treasured possessions in thrift shops, flea markets, and estate sales. In these objects I see wonderment, hope, and shared memories … that’s what imbues these paintings and drawings.

Working on a new painting
Started a new painting, 16" x 20", that will be part of The Inhabitants series. The initial idea came from a white chair that sits in our bedroom. My wife uses this chair while getting dressed in the mornings. I also want to include a voyeuristic feeling.
